ALGARNAS TRADGARD - Legendary classical/avant/prog ALTER ECHO - Excellent symphonic rock group that existed in the 70’s and was recently re-recorded ANEKDOTEN - Killer heavy mellotron laden prog a la Crimson. Essential! ANGLAGARD - #1 90’s prog rock. Essential!!! APETREA, COSTE - Heavy instrumental fusion by this legendary Ex-Samla guitarist. Great! ARBETE & FRITID - Nordic folk rock with classical and avant touches ARCHIMEDES BADKAR - Well known 70’s jazz/classical/fusion band ASOKA - Pre-Lotus heavy progressive ASTROTURF - Really strange mix of prog, new wave, rock ATLAS - Dual keyboard symphonic fusion. Great! AUTUMN BREEZE - Rare private release of symph/prog with female vocals from 1979 BALTIK - Prog rock from 1973 with heavy and light moments. Features Jan Schaffer and Bjorn-Jason Lindh BEARDFISH - Fantastic prog rock with heavy Gentle Giant, Mirthrandir, Yezda Urfa and even Spock’s Beard influences. Recommended! BLACK BONZO - Great symphonic/progressive with analog keys leading the way BODIN, TOMAS - Flower Kings keyboardist solo projects. Great! BOOK OF HOURS - Heavy progressive Anekdoten style BOOTCUT - Beardfish offshoot (Rikard Sjoblom) and great instrumental keyboard progressive with heavy hammond organ in Trace, Triumvirat, Greenslade style BRIGHTEYE BRISON - Absolute fantastic melodic symph/prog in Spock’s Beard realm. Highly recommended BROTHER APE - Melodic passionate progressive BROTHERHOOD OF LOVE, THE - Sounds from the middle east with tablas, sitars, bouzouki... Trace meets Ekseption DARXTAR - Like a Hard-edge Hawkwind DE GLADAS KAPELL - Classic instrumental progressive fusion from 1978 with Coste Apetrea on guitar DEATH ORGAN - Organ/Leslie led prog amidst wailing guitars, death vocals DEN FULE - Progressive folk rock DICE - One of Sweden’s best seventies symphonic rock groups. Both are essential! ELECTROCUTION 250 - Lale Larson led complicated agressive fusion ENSEMBLE NIMBUS - Like Samla with a dose of Univers Zero thrown in FIRST BAND FROM OUTER SPACE - Excellent space rock in Hawkwind/Ozric style FITZPATRICK, GREGORY ALAN - Of Samla fame FLASKET BRINNER - Early 70’s instrumental prog. Very intense heavy guitar/organ jamming FLEGMA - Heavy rocker FLOWER KINGS, THE - Essential prog/symph in Yes vein FOUNDATION - Fantastic symphonic rock FRIENDSHIP TIME - Previously unreleased mid-seventies progressive with great guitar interplay and occasional mellotron. What a discovery! GALLEON - Swedish Rush with a dose of tron GARMARNA - Folk GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA - Excellent instrumental progressive rooted in the 70’s like Kebnekaise and Trettioariga Kriget with a dose of RIO GRANDSTAND - Symphonic rock with ELP, Genesis influences GROUPA - Folk with traditional leanings GROVJOBB - Instrumental folk/psych in Jethro Tull vein HAGEN - Heavy symphonic with Irish folk melodies. Features Kaipa keyboardist Hans Lundin HAKANSSON, KENNY - Kebnekaise guitarist. Energetic folk on electric guitar. Great!!! HANSSON, BO - Symph/prog HANSSON & KARLSSON - Very nice reissue in digipack of ultra prog with massive keyboards & wild drums HEDNINGARNA - Brilliant Scandanavian traditional folk HELMERSON, ANDERS - Classic keyboard (mini moog, polymoog, arp, hammond etc...) symph/prog album from 1981. HEMMINGSON, MERIT - Female keyboard player with a surprise progressive album from 1972. Wonderful organ that reminds me a lot of Trace HOLLMER, LARS - Of Samla fame HOLY RIVER FAMILY BAND - Spacious Mind offshoot HOVEN DROVEN - A mix of Fairport Convention and Black Sabbath of all things INDISCIPLINED LUCY - Mixes Crimson with Pavlov’s Dog & Zello. Concept album INFRA - Crimson inspired IN THE LABYRINTH - Soft delicate prog/folk/eastern rock ISILDURS BANE - Excellent symph/classical rock ISRAEL, FRED - Obscure 1977 jazzy prog/symph album made up of 3 long tracks with mellotron JENS - Whispering psychy folk songs by original Spacious Mind member JOHANSSON, BJORN - Great symphonic rock with the Par Lindh KAIPA - Top 70’s Swedish prog/symphonic featuring Roine Stolt KARMAKANIC - Flower Kings symphonic off-shoot led by Jonas Reingold. Great! KEBNEKAISE - Great prog with folk touches KERBEROS - Hard prog with metal leanings KORNET - Brilliant 70’s instrumental fusion KULTIVATOR - Fantastic progressive acid folk KUNDALINI - Good fusion with Eastern influences KVARTETTEN SOM SPRANGDE - Quite sought after instrumental progressive rock from 1973 made up of guitars, drums, flute, piano and heavy organ. Excellent! LAST LAUGH - Twisted prog hard rock with lots of riffs and wicked turns LIFE - Legendary Swedish prog from 1970. This is the English version LINDH, PAR & BJORN JOHANSSON - Symphonic Tolkien projects LINDH, PAR (PROJECT) - Excellent classical keyboard driven prog rock LIQUID SCARLET - Fantastic prog with loads of mellotron. Like a cross between Anglagard & Landberk LIZETTE & - Emotional contemporary rock with the voice of Spektrum LOTUS - Early 70’s rarities with great instrumentals LOTUS - Heavy prog MADE IN SWEDEN - Jazzy prog MAGNOLIA - Heavy rock for those into Mountain, Cream and November MASQUE - Lush keyboard symphonic progressive MATS/MORGAN - Prog/fusion super duo. http://www.myspace.com/spacedoutmusic MAZE - If you like The Flower Kings then this will completely knock you out. MOOR, THE - Wave/progressive strangeness with mellotron MORTE MACABRE - Fantastic dark mellotron symphonic from members of Anekdoten and Landberk MR BROWN - 1977 Symphonic rock somewhere between Camel and Pink Floyd NANOOK OF THE NORTH - Delicate symphonic with alternate male/female vocals. Something really magical about this record! NEON ROSE - Hard rock NILSSON, STEFAN - Instrumental symphonic fusion by Kornet keyboardist NORDENSTAM, EMMA - Imagine Linda Perhacs and Turid’s first album but with even more sadness. Acoustic guitars, piano, trumpet, cello NORDENSTAM, EMMA/OSCAR DANIELSSON - Theater music but with the same feel as above NORRLATAR - Traditional folk rock with fiddle, viola, etc… NOVEMBER - 70’s Heavy rock prog legends OMINOX - Great fusion led by keyboard maestro Lale Larson OPUS EST - Progressive rock with a neo slant. Sort of like IQ ORESUND SPACE COLLECTIVE - Simply put, this is one of the best progressive electronic space rock albums I have ever heard. A must! ORIENT SQUEEZERS - Indian inspired psychedelia PAATOS - Landberk offshoot and in the same melancholy style with female vocals and beloved mellotron. PANDORA - Mondo rare symph/prog from 1974 in Kaipa style PANTA REI - Highly sought after seventies progressive psych POCKETFUL - Ex-Masque musicians coming up with a mix of prog and alternative rock PUCKSPONY - Solo album from Paatos drummer. Dark, frightening, ambient and technical music from outer space QOPH - Psych ranging from Captain Beyond to November RAD KJETIL & THE LOVING EYE OF GOD - Cosmic sounds by the friends of The Spacious Mind RADIOMOBEL - Tramsebox (1975) is psych/prog and quite underground sounding whereas Gudang (1978) is more in the Pulsar/Pink Floyd style RAG I RYGGEN - Hard prog in Uriah Heep style RAGNAROK - Great prog with folk leanings RAMLOSA KVALLAR - Traditional Swedish folk with Samla members RFP - Hard rock RISE & SHINE - Psych hard doom RITUAL - 1st is like Yes with a twist and a must. Their latest recordings has a more Zeppelin edge to them ROOTS OF ECHO - Folky psych SAMLA MAMMAS MANNA - Swedish zany legends SALVA - Great prog rock with a blend of the melodic and the heavy SIMON SAYS - Symph/prog with a heavy Genesis influence. SKANTZE, PATRIK - Well-produced floating symphonia comprised of two 21 minute tracks SKANTZE, PATRIK & THE FREE SOULS SOCIETY - Dreamy progressive in the Pink Floyd/P. Tree direction. Excellent! SKYRON ORCHESTRA - New band that’s in a late 60’s, early 70’s psych/prog timewarp with The Doors-like organ and female vocals SOLID GROUND - Hard rock classic from 1976 SONIQ CIRCUS - Progressive rock in the style of A.C.T., Kansas, Rush, Saga and Dream Theater. SPACIOUS MIND, THE - Psychedelic space SPEKTRUM - Excellent new symphonic rock with nice instrumentals and female vocals STEENSLAND, SIMON - Dark ala Univers Zero STOLT, ROINE - Flower Kings music machine SUSPEKT ASPEKT - Really great instrumental progressive by this reunited 70’s band. Similar to 70’s Kaipa and Camel SWEDISH FAMILY, THE - Tomas Bodin’s prog side project TENEBRE - Hard rock TIRED TREE - Symphonic rock suite written, performed and produced by Mattias Holmgren TRAD, GRAS OCH STENAR - Prog/psych/rock TRETTIOARIGA KRIGET - Guitar prog. Great! TRIAKEL - New folk band similar to Hedningarna & Garmana TRIBUTE - Masterful instrumental prog with P. Moerlen. All are great! TURID - Soft prog folk rarity with stunning female vocals & Kenny Hakansson on guitar. TWIN AGE - Like IQ or Genesis. Nice! UNICORN - Melodic symphonic progressive URBAN TURBAN - Ex-Kebnekajse. Unique eastern rock/prog? Quite good! VALINOR’S TREE - Similar to Anekdoten/Anglagard VILLEBRAD - Great prog/symph with Kaipa, Anekdoten and Trettioariga influences VIOLENT SILENCE – Symphonic rock with solid keys and passionate singer VON ZAMLA - Post Samla rock in opposition WASA EXPRESS - Best work by this progressive fusion outfit from 1976 XINEMA - Neo prog YAPE - Progressive folk with some ancient South American influences. Great acoustic guitars, pan flutes and percussion. Recommended! ZELLO - Their music is highlighted by rippin’ organ and violin and very similar to early Kansas ZEN - Wonderful progressive/psych space rock |
